An important meeting was held in the Siverek district of Şanlıurfa, under the leadership of the International Göbeklitepe Culture and Sports Association, to promote the sport of pickleball.
The meeting was attended by Rojda Nehir Kuzgun, President of the International Göbeklitepe Culture and Sports Association; Ali Murat Bucak, Mayor of Siverek; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Bardakçı, Southeastern Anatolia Region Pickleball Representative; Davut Güngör, International Pickleball Turkey Representative; Yunus Emre Karatay, Pickleball Hilvan Representative; and İbrahim Alhas, Pickleball Siverek Representative.
The meeting discussed the planned Pickleball Facility Project in Siverek. The social and sporting benefits of pickleball for the local community, especially youth and children, were discussed. Ideas were exchanged regarding the facility's technical infrastructure, potential locations, training programs, and potential national and international tournaments.
In a statement released following the meeting, it was emphasized that the International Göbeklitepe Culture and Sports Association will continue its efforts to promote sports, increase youth participation in active life, and support regional development.
This collaboration aims to make Siverek one of Turkey's leading pickleball centers and serve as an exemplary model for the development of this sport in the Southeastern Anatolia Region.
